WHAT IS A FORCE SUPPORT SQUADRON?
Supporting Airmen, Guardians, Families, and Installation Communities
A Force Support Squadron (FSS) is a key organization within the United States Air Force and United States Space Force responsible for delivering programs and services that enhance the quality of life, readiness, and well-being of Airmen, Guardians, their families, and the broader installation community.
Force Support Squadrons manage a wide range of mission-support and community-focused services designed to strengthen morale, resilience, and daily living. These include outdoor recreation programs, fitness and sports facilities, lodging and dining services, childcare and youth programs, education and career development resources, events and entertainment, tickets and travel services, and family support initiatives.
By combining operational support with community engagement, FSS teams help create strong, connected base environments where individuals and families can thrive both on and off duty. Their work directly supports mission readiness by ensuring Airmen, Guardians, and their families have access to the resources, activities, and support systems that improve overall quality of life.
